Old Pictures

Welcome Viewers to my blog,

Today we are going to be looking at Mrs Alpers great Grandpa's picture so we have to keep a huge eye on it and find some secrets in this picture. She gave us some specific hints about this picture when it was taken about during the gold rush. Everyone was coming to New Zealand to get gold.

The picture looked brownish old, so it was taken somewhere in the 1900s or 1800s. The house was combined with different materials such as bricks, stone, wood, hay for the roof. It looked like they picked that spot because it has a mountain and they can mine through it to get some gold because at that time it was the gold rush in New Zealand.

And next to the house was a man and a woman sitting down when the photo was taken. There was much stuff that they probably owned because it was a mess in the photo but they did have a small table outside. I bet what happened next after the photo they kept trying to find gold then they find some and got lots of money from it.

Here is the picture

  1. Fantastic observation Aaron! You managed to spot lots of objects and described the materials used to build the old shack/house beautifully. His name was Thomas Lister and one of his daughters is sitting beside him. His life ended suddenly when he was buried alive in a shingle slide close to his claim where he searched for gold. His little daughter fell to her death off a swing bridge over the Shotover River when she was only 5yrs old.. times were tough!:-(For some reason, the picture hasn't popped up.
