WWI Key Aspects/Happenings

Welcome to my blog post.

Today we are learning about WWI. But today I'm going to list some key aspects and what happened, facts and what started the war. Before I thought that they started the war only for land but it was the death of one of their leader.

Here is my work

Facts After Archduke.

Archduke began his military career aged just 12 which is surprising for

me because I thought u have to finish high school and choose between military or normal jobs or university etc.

Two attempts to assassinate Franz were made on 28 June 1914.

Surprisingly people weren’t shocked after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand because they would know that someday he will get killed. Its because he didn't take the security seriously.

His assassination was the cause for World War One.

He was assassinated by a terrorist who went into prison for a life sentence with no early escape after good behaviour.

The Schlieffen Plan

Germany had been preparing for war for years.

The Belgian army put up strong resistance.

Britain declared war on Germany on 4 August.

Russia mobilised its army in just 10 days.

By the time German troops reach the French border, the French army was waiting for them.

The Cavalry

The British have over 25,000 horses ready for battle.

Only 300 horses died which is less than I thought

Some of the horses were used for carrying medics for the injured soldiers.

Literally of the British used horse because they didn’t have many tanks or heavy stuff etc.

P8 and P16/17 - The Trenches

The trenches are one of the most unbearable place where a soldier goes. There are trenches rats.

There are also diseases that kill a lot of soldiers.

And lot os trench rats which carry diseases on to the soldiers that killed a lot of them.

Trenches were long, narrow ditches dug into the ground where soldiers lived.

The uncomfortable hole where they have to sleep and get muddy over time.

Poison Gas
Some of the gas used in the war were harmful. And was lead to a nuclear fight in WWII.

Tear gas is not that harmful but very good because it tears up the opponent and they have to blink because of the tears. So it gives a few seconds for the soldiers to fire while they close their eyes.

Mustered Gas does not count as a gas but a chemical that is very dangers to being exposed to breathing it could kill your lungs or do much worst.

Chlorine by getting into the water and forming acids. If your lungs are dissolving from the chlorine, you won't be able to breathe, and that's how it will kill you. You’ll have a slow death. But if you found a way to finally breathe then chlorine won’t be that much of a harm to you if you know a cure.

Breathing bromine gas could cause you to cough, have trouble breathing, get a headache, have irritation of your mucous membranes (inside your mouth, nose, etc.

  1. Well researched and recorded. Amazing to think the Archduke started his military training when he was 12. Do you think it was because people didn't live so long in those days?
